River Rock

Words and actions, flow around him
like water round a river rock
steady in his place
giving no power to the fluidity surrounding
outbursts of emotion seem shallow,
not in authenticity..but depth
quick to return to stability
an ability she admired…envied
unwavering solidity conveyed callousness,
yet she viewed it as perhaps the most truthful..
Authentic portrayal of self
Absent of facade

It seems like we live in a world so attached by sentimentality and goopy emotions that when someone stands stable and sturdy, they can come across as "callous". We prefer "facades". I would like to be a LITTLE more like him.
